How can I lose weight?

I am a 19 year old guy. My body type in kinda like wide. In high school I played varsity lacrosse all 4 years and weighed 180lbs. Now that Ive been out of high school Ive been too lazy to work out and Ive gone up to 215lbs :/. When I DO exercise i lose weight fast, but Ive been too lazy. Any ideas on how i can lose weight fast?

The weight will not come off quickly, but if you keep at it, you will lose weight.

If you’re trying to lose weight, you need to consume fewer calories than you burn. Don’t diet. They’re a waste of time. There are so many diets to choose from because at one point or another, you will mess up on a current diet, and some person thinks that their new diet is the solution. Diets work by limiting yourself to certain foods and deprivation, in the hope that you will lose weight. This can work, but at some point, your body will think it’s starving and will retain weight to stay alive. Also, stay away from pills. They usually work by preventing your body from absorbing some of the fat it consumes. You could do just as well by not consuming so much fat in the first place.

Get more fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and water. All of those foods are low in calories. Decrease the amount of meat, dairy, and junk food you consume. All of those foods are high in calories. You can still eat them, especially junk food, but only eat them with meals. For example, eat a handful of chips with lunch.

Make your goals resonable. Otherwise, you will fail. If you want to get ripped don’t expect results. For one, not everyone is meant to be ”ripped”, and you must have a very low body fat percentage to be ripped. Very few who look ripped do it naturally, protein supplements, or worst of all, steroids may be involved. It’s difficult to get ripped naturally because the body is not meant to be in such a state.

Also increase your exercise. Jogging on the treadmill for twenty minutes for five days is a start. You need to exercise. You may also want to do light weight training to tone your body. Exercise, without eating well will cause hunger. And eating well, without exercise will cause flabby skin. Here’s a sample of meals for the day:

breakfast:
-total cereal with milk
-an apple
-glass of water

lunch:
-turkey and cheese sandwich
-small bag of chips
-glass of water

dinner:
-salad with chicken breast
-apple
-glass of water
-two scoops of ice cream

Water is very important. Drink some with every meal.

Treat high-calorie foods as jewels in the crown. Make a spoonful of ice cream the jewel and a bowl of fruit the crown. Cut down on the chips by pairing each bite with lots of chunky, filling fresh salsa, suggests Jeff Novick, director of nutrition at the Pritikin Longevity Center & Spa in Florida. Balance a little cheese with a lot of salad.

hey… janet here.. hopefully my own personally story can be of some guidance/help to you..

I’m 5′8 and at the time I was about 220 lbs.. and was trying real hard to lose weight for almost 8 months… i just had a baby girl at the time.. and during my pregnancy i gained a tonnnn of weight and much of it stuck with me after she was born, and the hubby began getting on my case and bothering me non stop about my new weight problem… so after a few months of that, it really started getting to me, plus summer was about to get here- and i love the beach! So i decided to try and do something about it…

ive since tried almost every diet system out there… the standard eat less-exercise more change lifestyle diet, south beach, atkins, slimfast, acai berry, weight watchers, etc… I also tried taking many different weight loss supplements.. and overall nothing has really worked well for me…. Hi there,

I think you might be getting a little mixed up with what you want exactly. You say that you want to lose “weight” but that means you might want to get rid of some muscle too. You then say that you’d like to “shape” (I’d call it tone) your body a little which implies you want to build some muscle. I’m not trying to pick at your question – I just want to clarify the point for you.

To answer it in the best way, I am going to look at it as if you want to get rid of fat AND build muscle at the same time. If you’re looking to “trim” and “tone” your body, and espectially because you suggest you are not that overweight, I would suggest you start performing more intensive aerobic exercises such as jogging. I wouldn’t think you need to change the whole way you eat or go on a diet because if you’re wanting to build muscles – it’s better to do it all with exercise.

Exercises like jogging won’t exactly “build” your muscles on your stomach but they will help reduce the extra fat around there. Depending on how fit you are, you should go on daily or bi-daily jogs of around a mile. To build muscles, you should concentrate on anaerobic exercises such as sit-ups to help build muscles.

These muscle-building exercises will give your muscles the toning and training they need to grow and become more prominent. To start to see a real difference with sit-ups, you should be looking to do no more than 100 every day (more than that will often hurt your muscles).

If you stick to doing those two forms of exercise – jogging and sit-ups, you should see real improvements in a week or two. Remember, you should do them as often as you can (I.E every single day).

Loosing weight fast is always an unhealthy thing.
There are many diets who tell you that you can loose a lot of weight in no time. And it is working, but you are doing no good to your body. And there’s also the Jojo-effect.
The best thing to loose and hold a healthy weight is healthy food, less sugar, lots of drinking water, and sports.
Diet has to begin in your head. And you already started to think about your nutrition. That’s an important step. It is too easy just to make a magazine-diet for 2-3 weeks and loose some weight. But it will come back soon again. If you are over-thinking your nutrition and activity, you will have a constantly good result. Isn’t that much better and healthier than a crash-diet ?
